This small, slightly different compact camper was built by myself for just under €200 in just three days. Most of the materials were purchased secondhand. The bike camper’s chassis comes from an old children’s bike trailer.

Planning Tips

Equipment:
Pack light and compact. Take only the essentials, such as a tarp, sleeping bag, cooking equipment, a first-aid kit, a pump, a spare tube, and weatherproof clothing.

Route Planning:
Plan realistic daily distances, especially for beginners. Allow enough time for breaks and ensure you arrive at your destination before dark.

Safety:
Follow up on the route and weather conditions. Consider an emergency plan and a backup sleeping area.

Handling:
Too much luggage can affect the handling of the bike camper. Do not overload the trailer to avoid unnecessary effort.

THE BIKE-CAMPER MOTIVATION

The motivation for me to start a compact bike camper  project is the enormous freedom it offers. Freedom during construction and on tour. Like no other means of transport, the bicycle offers the possibility of legally reaching the most remote and beautiful places in the heart of nature and staying overnight there legally.
